Mr. Westerfield
Welcome to our Math class for 7th Grade Math! Look through the posts, and visit the links to keep in touch with what we are accomplishing in school. This site is a great way to keep up to date with what is occurring in the classroom.
My name is Rick Westerfield, and I am going to be teaching 7th Grade Math for the 2023-2024 school year. Once a week, we will work on IXL on our Chromebooks in the field of Mathematics. Students can expect homework once a week to improve and maintain their Math skills throughout the year on a website called Edulastic. The rest of the week will be spent working on various activities and games to help improve our math skills throughout the year. We will be using the common core standards that were adopted in the state of Kentucky in the 2011-2012 school year.
I have thirteen and a half years teaching experience and am very excited to be on the faculty at Eastside Middle School. I am a Kentucky native and graduated from the University of Louisville in May 2009 with a degree in Early Elementary Education as well as an endorsement in Middle Grades Mathematics. I then obtained my Masters Degree from Indiana University Southeast in Middle School Education in May 2012. After that, I obtained my Rank I at Campbellsville University in the field of Gifted and Talented in May 2017. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, baseball, board games, and spending time with my family.
If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me through my e-mail ([email protected]) or by phone call through the school (502-869-5000). We are going to have a fantastic year of hands-on Math!
